Strategies are the rules that move your calendar price for a particular guest, a particular moment, or a particular way of arriving. The screen’s own line for it is smart pricing that adapts to who’s asking. A strategy is written as a sentence, not a formula, so anyone on your team can read what it does.

What is on the screen

A list of your strategies with their status, a filter, and two ways to add one: Start from a template. A set of field-tested strategies you can take as they are or adjust — Last-Minute Saver, Early Booking, Long Stay Bonus, Off-Peak Filler, Family Saver, Mobile Saver, Returning Guest Reward, VIP Whisper, Local Spotlight, Late Night Close. Or compose your own in the sentence editor, which has two halves:
  • Conditions — when this applies. You add them one at a time, and each is a row you fill in rather than something you write.
  • Action — what happens to the price when it does, and by how much.
The editor offers help on the choice you are making at the point you make it, so you do not have to hold the whole grammar in your head.

What you do here

1

Start from a template unless you know exactly what you want

A template is a working strategy. Reading one is the fastest way to understand what the editor can express.
2

Add conditions one at a time and read the sentence back

Every condition you add narrows who the strategy reaches. Read the finished sentence out loud — if it does not describe a guest you recognise, it will not fire the way you expect.
3

Set the action last

Decide who first, how much second. It is the order the sentence reads in, and it stops you tuning a number for a guest you have not defined.
4

Turn it on when you mean it

A strategy has a status. Leave one off while you are still deciding.
The minimum price is the floor. A quote that would fall below it is not sold at all. Before switching several strategies on at once, be sure you would accept the price at the bottom of the range they can produce.

What happens next

An active strategy is considered on quotes from that point on, and applies to the ones where its conditions match. Switching it on does not change every price — it changes the prices for the guests it describes. The drawer on Reservations shows which strategies applied to an individual booking, which is where to look when a price is questioned. How they are performing as a group is on Performance.
