# Communication

> The channels your guests reach your AI staff on.

**Communication** is where your guest-facing channels are connected — the ways a guest talks to your AI staff outside the widget on your website.

<Note>
  **"Communication", not "channels".** In a hotel, *channels* means Booking.com and your channel manager, and those live under [Integrations](/front-desk/settings/integrations). These are the guest's channels, not your distribution ones.

## What is on the screen

A tab per channel — **WhatsApp**, **Phone** and **Telegram** — each showing whether it is connected and what is needed if it is not.

There is also an **E-mail** tab, where your account covers it, and it does a different job from the other three. It is not a channel guests chat to your AI staff on; it sets the **sender name and reply-to address your marketing e-mail goes out from** — see [Broadcasts](/front-desk/marketing/broadcasts).

Each tab is a place you can link to directly, so you can send a colleague to the one that needs work.

## What you do here

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the tab for the channel you are adding">
    Each one connects differently, and the tab tells you what it needs.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Read the state before you change anything">
    A channel your hotel has not bought is described rather than offered, and one that is bought but not yet connected says so. They are different situations with different next steps.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  **Some steps here are done by Hotel Linkage.** Where a tab says a step is handled for you, it is — the screen does not ask you for something it will not accept from you.

## What happens next

A connected channel means guests reaching you there are answered by your AI staff, working from the same knowledge as everywhere else.

**They do not all behave identically.** Each channel has its own rules about what can be sent and when, and what your AI staff can do inside a conversation differs between them. The tab tells you where its channel is limited.

Which messages go out over which channel is set under [Requests](/front-desk/settings/requests) and, for reviews, under [Reviews](/front-desk/settings/reviews).
