# Templates

> Ready-made messages to start from, and the ones you have saved yourself.

**Templates** is the starting point for a [broadcast](/front-desk/marketing/broadcasts). Rather than a blank box, you begin from a message already shaped for the job it does.

***

## What is on the screen

**Tabs for the channel** — e-mail and WhatsApp — because a message that works when read is not the message that works on a phone.

**The catalogue**, grouped by the **job the message does** rather than by when in a stay it is sent: bringing bookings in, keeping guests informed, hearing back from them. Each entry says what it is for, and a preview is one tap away.

Some messages are **only sendable to one kind of audience**, and the entry says so. That is a rule of the message, not a suggestion — picking it for a different audience is refused when you try to send.

**Your saved messages** sit above the catalogue once you have any: messages you filled in and kept under a name. On the first visit the catalogue is what you need; by the tenth it is your own autumn survey.

## What you do here

<Steps>
  <Step title="Pick the job, then the message">
    The grouping is the fastest route. You know what you are trying to do before you know what it should say.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Preview before you commit to one">
    The preview shows the message filled in, so you read what a guest reads.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Start from it">
    Taking a template opens the composer with the message already in place, ready to edit.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save one you will use again">
    A message you have written and will send again belongs under a name. **Remove** takes one off the list.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  **A WhatsApp message is approved before it can be sent**, and its status is shown on the entry. A message still under review cannot go out yet — that is the messaging service's decision, not your hotel's, and there is nothing to fix on this screen while it waits.

## What happens next

Choosing a template opens the [composer](/front-desk/marketing/broadcasts). Nothing is sent from this screen.
