# Broadcasts

> A message sent to an audience — written, checked, and sent in stages.

**Broadcasts** is where you send one message to many guests. You pick an audience, write the message, and send.

***

## What is on the screen

**A list of broadcasts you have sent or are sending**, each with its channel — e-mail or WhatsApp — and where it stands, with progress while it is going out. Drafts are not listed; a broadcast appears once it has been sent.

**The composer**, when you create one, takes you through the same order every time: **who it goes to**, **what it says**, **who it is from**, and then sending.

***

## What you do here

<Steps>
  <Step title="Pick the audience first">
    The message you write depends on who is reading it. The composer asks in that order for a reason.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Start from a template unless you have a reason not to">
    [Templates](/front-desk/marketing/templates) opens with the message already shaped. A blank box is the slowest way to begin.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Send yourself a test">
    Read it on a phone, as a guest would. A test send is the only way to see what you have actually written.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Send">
    The composer confirms before anything goes out, and tells you how many people it is about to reach.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Warning>
  **A message already sent cannot be recalled — the rest can be stopped.** The broadcast's own page carries **Pause**, **Resume** and **Cancel**, so a mistake you spot mid-send costs you the messages already gone and not the whole audience. Confirm the audience size in the dialog before you start; it is the one number that tells you whether you picked the audience you meant.
</Warning>

<Note>
  **Your hotel's very first broadcast is split in two for you.** It goes out to a first portion, stops, and waits for you to read the result before the rest follows. The confirmation tells you the size of each part.

  **This is not offered again.** Later broadcasts go out in one pass however large the audience is — if you want to stop one, that is what **Pause** is for.
</Note>

## What happens next

The broadcast's own page follows it as it goes: how many were **delivered**, **opened**, **clicked**, and how many **bounced**.

**Not everyone in the audience is sent to.** A guest with no address on that channel is skipped, and so is anyone who has asked you to stop.

**Marketing consent is required for marketing messages, and not for every message.** A service message to a guest currently staying with you — telling them about something during their stay — does not ask for marketing agreement. A guest who has asked to stop is excluded either way. The rules are set out under [Consent](/front-desk/marketing/consent).

What it earned is on [Analytics](/front-desk/marketing/analytics).
