# Past Guests

> Departed guests who talked to your AI staff during their stay.

**Past Guests** lists departed guests **who opened a conversation with your receptionist** during their stay.

<Warning>
  **This screen is narrower than its name, and that is deliberate.** A guest who stayed with you but never spoke to your AI staff will not be here, however complete their stay record is. It is not missing data — it is a different list.

  **For everyone else, look them up in [Profiles](/front-desk/guests/profiles).** That is the record of every person you hold, whether or not they ever typed a word.
</Warning>

The screen says this itself, above the list, so nobody has to remember it.

***

## What is on the screen

A list with a column for the guest, the room, the phone number, where the stay came from, the check-in date, and the date they were checked out. It is **ordered by room number**, not by date, so a room you are asking about is where you expect it.

**Two rows of filters:**

* **By date** — *Today*, *Last 7 Days*, *Last 30 Days*, or a **Custom Range** with your own From and To dates.
* **By kind of guest** — *All Guests*, *Hotel Guests*, or *Day Guests*.

There is a search across name, room, and phone, and the list is paged.

Selecting a name opens the same detail panel you use on Active Guests — the visit under **Current Stay**, the person under **Guest Profile**.

## What you do here

<Steps>
  <Step title="Look up a conversation that has ended">
    Search by name, room, or phone. If you know roughly when they were here, narrow the date filter first.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Read what was asked during the stay">
    The detail panel carries the requests, the notes, and the preferences from that visit.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Go to Profiles when the guest is not here">
    A guest who never chatted has no row on this screen. Their record still exists, in [Profiles](/front-desk/guests/profiles), with their whole history.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Tip>
  **Use this before a returning guest arrives.** What they asked for last time is a better welcome than starting from nothing — and if they are not on this list, their profile will still tell you.
</Tip>

## What happens next

Nothing changes from this screen — it is a record, not a workspace. A returning guest is activated again on [Active Guests](/front-desk/guests/active-guests), and their history follows them because it belongs to the person, not the visit.
