# Notifications

> How your team is alerted, and which messages your guests receive.

**Notifications** controls two separate things: what reaches **your team**, and what reaches **your guests**.

***

## What is on the screen

### How to reach you

The addresses and numbers your hotel is alerted on.

### Alert types

Which events raise an alert, and on which channel. A new guest request, a review that needs attention, a booking — each can reach your team differently.

Choose deliberately. A team alerted about everything stops reading alerts, and then misses the one that mattered.

### Messages to your guests

The messages your hotel sends guests automatically — a welcome when they arrive, a confirmation when a request is done, a booking confirmation.

Each can be switched on or off, and you decide which channel carries it.

### Ring the bell

The master switch for alerts to your team. With it off, nothing on this screen reaches anyone at your hotel, whatever the individual settings say.

### Recent rings

Two lists showing what has actually gone out lately, to your guests and to your hotel. The fastest way to confirm a message really went where you think it did.

    Nothing else on this screen matters while the master switch is off.

  <Step title="Put in real addresses">

  </Step>

  <Step title="Turn on what someone will act on">
    Start narrow. Add more when your team asks for it, not before.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Read your guest messages as a guest">
    These go out in your hotel's name. Read them once with a guest's eyes before you switch them on.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Check the recent lists after any change">

  </Step>
</Steps>

<Info>
  **Team alerts and guest messages are different jobs.** Switching off an alert quietens your team's phone; switching off a guest message means a guest stops hearing from your hotel.

## What happens next

Changes apply to the next alert and the next guest message; nothing already sent is affected. Check the two recent lists afterwards — that is how you confirm a change did what you expected rather than assuming it did.
